Had a call from a woman claiming to be from Windows Head Office. Asked me to log onto my computer and run a program as she alleged there was a fault in my windows programme. I told her I wasn't comfortable about doing that as I had no verification that she was who she said she was. Caller then hung up

Had a call from a woman claiming that she had a client who wanted to buy shares from me (I do own shares in the company mentioned). I said I knew it was a scam & put the phone down. She then phoned again & asked why I had put the phone down! They are obviously using this number for multiple scams.

They claim to be buying BaE shares
They are all fraudsters, but I keep them talking as long as possible (to waste their time and phone bill) then I tell them to e-mail me at info@fsa.gov.co.uk! I have reported them to the FSA - for all the good that it will do. They get your name and address from company registrars. The woman who rung me made a point of telling me that she knew my address - as though to threaten me - when I said I wasb reporting her to the FSA.

I am a fraud investigator for a bank. We get numerous claims from customers who get taken in by these people. If you willingly give your card details to this company there is no guarantee that your bank can refund you so beware. The majority of people tell them where to go but by chance they will get someone vulnerable who they can prey on.

Windows scrappage scheme?
I am sick and tired of this number calling. 0012102490540 ... comes up as International on caller display and on the rare occasion I answer, it's an automated message "Hi. We're calling to let you know about the windows scrappage scheme..."

Like many others, my number is ex-directory and I am registered with TPS.

I am now getting between 4 - 10 calls a day from withheld/unknown/international numbers. It's rare that I'll answer these calls, but when I have it's all spam/scam crap!!

The first call i had i went all through my laptop with them looking for the error and in the end they asked for £30 i think it was to fix it, when i told them i didnt have this amount they said what about £15 then, obviously a scam, never gave them anything but they still keep calling, seriously considering changing our number its getting really annoying now

Has rung several times in last week sometimes twice a day. I now have a system to sort out Spam Callers.

My answer phone message says I am a Call Preference number and only recognised numbers will be answered. COLD callers should hang up immediately.

Took a while for my friends to get used to my message but is amusing to see how quickly cold callers hang up!

This number just called me, and despite entries saying this is the Microsoft scam, or Sky, this call was from "Go Green Energy Survey", a "genuine government department" wanting to know about my energy usage and supplier. Dump BT if they won't sort it out!
Just had a call from this number, one of the many such overseas calls we get every week.

I have managed to reduce the volume of calls slightly, by just being abusive. These companies are phishing for your details - anything they can get, so if they ask for you by name and you confirm it's you, then they have your name and number for sale. No business is going to buy phone numbers which guarantee a tirade of foul mouthed abuse - swear at them and they won't sell your number!

Alternatively, learn another language! I now rabbit on at them in Russian - that really gets the 'Indian' sounding ones annoyed. They've phoned your number, hoping to scam someone who speaks English and if the person who answers doesn't speak English, they can't scam them and the number is useless to sell on.

We've now decided that if BT won't bar overseas calls to our number, we may as well get rid of the landline and just use our mobiles and I urge others to do the same. We typically get a dozen or more 'nuisance calls' and possibly 6 to 10 proper calls per week. There are some good deals around on mobile tariffs and for the amount we use our phones, we'll probably be no worse of financially.

If BT suddenly loses a few thousand customers, perhaps they'll take notice...

So annoying
This number is ringing my landline multiple times per day, how have they got my info as I chose to be ex directory and have only given it to immediate family, we haven't been here very long and it was a new build with a brand new phone line and number. It's like being hounded in your own home and is really getting me down, as it keeps disturbing the kids. It rang at 7.31 tonight but has rung at nearly 9pm before now. Frustrated

I am guessing they must have done, as they hung up whilst I was singing the last line.

Received a call today from a Scottish woman called Tracy saying she was from the Energy Advisorry Group. Got really ratty when I asked her to repeat the names & asked for her telephone number. Asked if we were on TPS, when I said yes she wanted our 4 digit security code fopr TPS saying she needed that to take our number off their system.
Kept her arguing for about 5 minutes, then told her we had previously been rung by her company & they were still not removing our number. Mentioned that we had already reported them to TPS & were now going to report to Ofcom & would ask for them to be closed down.
