Claimed to be calling on behalf of HBOS
I got a call on the evening of 25 April 2012 from a male caller who claimed to be doing a customer satisfaction survey for one of the banks I use. He didn't name the bank, but when I pressed him, he said it was Halifax/Bank of Scotland (HBOS).

I didn't confirm or deny whether I had any accounts with HBOS, but told him that I only discussed my banking directly with the bank concerned, then I hung up on him.

Calling on behalf of Nat West
They have just called me to carry out a survey as I am apparantly a Nat West customer! Considering I do not have an account with this bank I put the phone down. The lady was persistent and immediately called back. I simply put the phone down again having given her an ear-full!

Strange Background Noise / said was a bank survey
About 5.15pm today a woman dialling from this 0800... number asked "to speak to" (and said my name). There was strange background noise and the line was bad. She said it was a "courtesy fall for a bank in" (and named the london area). I asked "which bank" and she said "I must speak to" (and said my name). I then said - I am [xxxx]. She asked "Do you have time to do a survey?" Suspecting something was not right I replied firmly "No. Did I have time to do a survey?" She said 'when I can I call you back?' I said 'I don't want to be called back!" - The bad line with background (TV?) noise made me suspcious.

If they speak...say yes you are interested but just need to do something in the kitchen.... Then leave the phone off the hook... 5 mins is usually enough but I have known one wait a lot longer and still be there when I remembered and went to hang up....I actually said sorry to be so long but needed more time,,,, I have no idea how lo g they waited after that ...:)

Thats a good idea!

That means they can call back again and again, idiot.

If you dont want them to call, just ask politely.

If you want to be expletive on the phone and be offensive, the caller could quite happily put your number back on the calling list again and again. i'm sure you'd like a call at 9am on a sunday or 9pm friday night

Some clue for you guys
How this works?
Why they phoning me?
Where they get the data from?
clear mind versus world vide madness ...
freedom under locked environment ..

Now days we r living in fast world where the demand of needs r higher
than we r capable to produce.
Large corporation selling goods for peanuts and the workers have to make higher target.
With this the economy fall !!
you asking why?
It is because we all want to make a huge budget but in the same time we r to tight to pay for services or products.
Large corporation managing budget trough investments government
so if you take your self above the actual whole this existing living environment
then you realize we r locked monitored or even
slowed down.

people think ok I got some point from Tesco
At least I get something.
But the true is you get something because each time you
Shopping and finally you swipe your card they know what you eating.
In the background they running some sophisticated software
this software

Continue
this software segregate each product and it is ready to do a chart
so they know each area is high on toilet roll or milk or etc .
then they sale the data even if they say no.
Now days its a good business to open a call centre.
I remember someone told me they not interested about customer needs just them detail.
so when they officially closing down the business they own approximately
500.000 data or more
usually in these infos they having company or private people details and by them it's easy to find a repository for a utility
Above this whole thing is few people on high position they managing the fundings and the legal twist.
unfortunately this happening in the whole planet.
World vide business vise there r just 3 option
firs is to sign a lucrative contract and do quality or
Push down contractor and with this the contractor will fall down and with him also the people..
Or sale cheap nasty stock with this the economy fall and the waste grove.
I hope this make sense

Network Research dont just do research for one company.

They call on behalf of Lloyds, Halifax, TSB and BoS for banks.
They also call for British Gas, and some surveys require them not to mention that it is for BG until the end of the survey and they explain the reasons why.

Outsource customer satisfaction research company.
Obviously certain companies are giving our information to this "research organisation". Whether you have said to or not.

I have recently changed to British Gas for my energy however did not give them permission to pass my contact details to any third parties.

Is this legal?

Your visit to your bank yesterday
Just got a call from this number asking about my visit to my bank yesterday. When I asked which bank the man on the phone replied this is client confidential information. I just put the phone down. Had many earlier calls but when I picked up the phone silence. The accent of the man was Northern Irish so I guess that is where this call centre operates from

Firstly 'client confidential information' is actually ' customer confidentiality. Lloyds or whatever bank you are with specifically ask Network Research not to reveal any sensitive information (Branch or Bank name) to anyone but the account holder. Until they confirm the person they are speaking with they can only say its on behalf of the named persons bank and that its a call regarding to a recent visit.

This is a genuine thing
Call centres for banks, energy companies etc use Network Research to conduct customer surveys so they can get a "rating" of how good their service is.

This company is passed your number by the companies you bank with / get energy from etc.

Just wanted to reassure people they are a genuine company and not fraudulent. If you ask they'll usually be able to tell you why they're calling i.e. you recently called us about xx or wanted to do xx over the phone.

Anytime you go into a bank it gets flagged on their system.
The main classifications are Transaction/Meeting/Enquiry.
The first two are understandable but enquiry means your account was looked at, for example statement/you asking a question etc.
Often enquiries aren't correct as information does get mixed. So it may be nonsense but it was a simple mistake and feel free to call your bank and check who they are
