The Automobile Association
This is a post to confirm that it is The AA calling. We take the OfCom regulations very seriously, and operate within their guidelines. Customers have the opportunity to dial a freephone 0800 number if they wish to speak with a member of staff. The AA is committed to improving its services to its members and may call you following a vehicle breakdown, about your renewal or to keep you informed about the other products and services offered by the AA. However, if you do not wish to receive further calls from us, please dial the 0800 number back and follow the instructions and we will ensure that you are not called.

On 5th July 2012, I asked the AA to stop calling me and they agreed. I received no further calls from them until last week. Now, I'm getting calls from this number - different number than before. I haven't answered the calls and no voice message was left so I can't confirm it was the AA but it sure looks like it.

Do the AA think these calls will endear me to their products? Dream on.

I am registered with the TPS. I should not have been called for any of the reasons stated. Clearly TPS rules are not obeyed by these people

I don't care if you adhere to the rules or not - I DO NOT want to speak to you! asked me to confirm my address before going through a 'customer survey' that was meant to last 5 minutes. After I refused to give my details The AA survey lasted about 20 seconds. absolute scum the lot of them - called me 3 days in a row about 6 times a day.

If you are genuinely from the AA, why do you have to justify your self on this website (and every other number look up site I have found relating to this number. You have posted identical messages on each. I believe you are working on behalf of the people who operate this scam to make it appear legitimate. YOU ARE A FRAUD!!

Surely The AA is aware that 0800 numbers are not free to mobile phones. How dare they suggest we pay them money to stop hassling us. It is disgusting. This company has been on a downward slope for a long time. It must really be on its uppers to be behaving like this.

"However, if you do not wish to receive further calls from us, please dial the 0800 number back and follow the instructions and we will ensure that you are not called."

0800 number - good
message indicating that it is from the AA - good
follow the instructions - bad, as it of course involves having to speak to them.

This number is a pest at the AA
They ring my home 3 or 4 times A DAY! They want to talk to my partner, who works away, I tell them she will never be here during daytime working hours and please make a note and stop calling during the day. They promise to stop calling and then call 3 or 4 times again the next day. This has now happened every working day for over a month and no matter what I say to them they will not stop. This is a serious breach of my TPS registration and a serious invasion of my privacy.

They've started phoning my moblie number
I've never used the AA, never asked for a quote, never given them my number. I've opted out on the telephone preference service. Why are they calling me!

they'd have bought your mobile number from a list broker. it'll be classified by any info other people hold against you (eg age, gender etc) to help them target what they offer. If you've received calls from research companies and wondered how they got your number - it's the same story. Research is outside of guidelines 'cos they're trying to sell goods or services and you can only opt out on a company by company basis as and when they contact you

...and if you call them back on the 'freephone' number from your mobile - it'll cost 14p per minute while you wait for them to answer! Wish they'd be more honest - it's not about monitoring their service - it's all about being an opportunity to sell you something else

Phishing
Called repeatedly over a few days. When I eventually picked up the call it was an asian lad claiming to be with the AA. Suspecting it was a scam, I asked if it was regarding my renewal. He said yes and would I like to renew with him now. I said I'd already renewed last week as I have a Direct Debit. He then went silent for about 5 seconds. I then said I didn't believe he was really calling from the AA and asked which company he was really working for …he immediately hung up.

Suspect this is a phishing scam to get credit card or even bank details. Don't fall for it. Have reported it to the real AA.

Had two calls from this number in the last two days but simply didn't answer. If this is The AA then you have my details and if you wish to get in contact you can write to me. If you aren't simply cold calling to waste people's time then you could at least take advantage of that wonderful thing called "voicemail".

They CANNOT remove your number
I've dialled the 0800 number back and there is NOTHING about removing my number, no message even indicating that. Simply says press 1 to speak to someone. They are lying even on this thread! I called back to remove my number and there is NO OPTION to do this. Save your money, if you're on a mobile, and do NOT call this number back.

THIS IS A SCAM - DO NOT GIVE ANY PAYMENT DETAILS!
I received a text message from 08706072313 a few days ago, from a source which claimed to be the AA. It advised me that they have been unable to collect my annual renewal. I became suspicious when I noticed that the membership number was incorrect and the fact that I always renew in August. Today I had a call from this AA number, saying the same thing. He was insistent that my renewal was due now and when I told him that it has always been in August and that is what it said on my card he went quiet and said he would check and phone me back. Guess what - no call back!!

aa
I have rec'd several calls from this number and it may well be from the AA as I have recently obtained insurance from them. As they are calling on my mobile (for whatever reason) I have simply blocked calls from that number. Should they need to get in touch - for anything pertinent - they can mail me.

Renewal Calls
Discovered these calls are from a company 'acting' for the AA whom are receiving a commission for each renewal secured. Cancelled my insurances with AA for this reason.

Interesting
I recently had the AA attend my car when it broke down. I phoned them from my mobile, of course, and the operator asked if they could use my mobile number to contact me by text and calls with regard to this breakdown. From my past dealings with the AA I was aware that there would be a follow-up survey call and so I listened carefully to see if this would be mentioned - it wasn't.

It would be so easy for the AA to ask my permission for the follow-up call there and then but they chose not to. I've added this number to my phone's blacklist.

renewal
yes its the AA.
had to get the bank to stop these clowns taking money out. BE AWARE AND TELL EVERYONE. never ever join these thieves as you cannot cancel if you set up a continuous payment system which they demand to get the discount when joining.
just be warned no one is available when you phone them if you need to cancel and they say they will call you back within 24 hours and never do.

I got a quote on line from AA for travel insurance but it was too high. 5 minutes later they called my mobile and asked to speak to me. I told them they had the wrong number then blocked the number so they can't ring me again.
