You can phone this organisation on also on 0161 929 5799 which is their general enquiry number, they are an independent marketing company working for Vodafone sales. They then promise to remove your number from their list. Check them by Googling LBM in Manchester.
If you want to be spiteful everyone could phone them on 0800 479 6444 which is their recruitment number and by bombarding them with calls they will get a taste of their own medicine, and it will cost them for the calls!

I'm seriously judging the people who think this is a legit number- they have asked people for their postcode and credit card details and are so obviously a scam (I think Vodafone confirmed this a while back on their twitter account) my guess is have a look at the Vodafone website to see how you can opt out

I've been getting calls from this number. They haven't left a message. Other sites investigating nuisance calls warn they claim to be Vodaphone but then request personal details so unlikely to be. DON'T give them any personal information. If it is Vodaphone they should have your address to contact you by post if they need to and should not need to ask you for this.

Glad I have found this site. I have had this number calling me every day for the last week. Interestingly, I changed my mobile before Xmas at a Vodophone shop and they offered me an extra sim card and number for my old phone free for two months, to give me time to get used to my new phone. I never used it, but now the free period is up I am being harassed with calls from this number and nobody answering when I answer!!

Seems dodgy
I answered the call to a young man (Aaron) claiming he's from Vodafone, knows my name and calls me a valued customer. As such, I am entitled to some special offers. He warns me that all calls are recorded etc for training and so on and then wants to know the second and 4th digits of some code! I can't remember which code he asked for but this is not the sort of thing I would expect from a legitimate company.
I told him no and I could find out about any deals from my account on their website.

The digits of your code that Vodafone asked for is the 4 digit pin number you create when you sign up. I can never remember mine....
Vodafone are concerned about losing customers so they have gone overboard in looking after their subscribers.

Just because they ask for your personal details does not mean they are dodgy and it does not mean that they don't know your details. (it's probably on the screen in front of them). It's called verification people...
They would like to verify your identity just as much as you would like to verify theirs.
If they were to make changes on YOUR vodafone account (such as changing a price plan), they're not going to let any random stranger confirm those changes on your behalf.
Use your head please.

They're likely part of Vodafone or an outsourced company calling on behalf of vodafone who are targetted and measured on calling existing customers who are eligible for offers (i.e. due an upgrade), trying to upsell other products and/or retain their custom through loyalty offers. Once you speak to them and decline them once, they're not likely to call you again for a while.

sounds like a perfect opportunity to test out a smart phones "auto reject" list. The only way to beat this kind of crap - and I include what Vodaphone would term "legitimate marketing research" - is to ignore them with as little interuption to our daily lives as possible... Have a look at your phone to see how to auto reject, most smart phones can do it :)

I don't care who it is...
You should NEVER give any personal details to someone who phones you that you don't know.
When I told the lady today what I wanted proof that she really was calling from Vodafone, she said she would send me a text with the word Vodafone! Oh yes, that's proof, isn't it...
Even if this is from Vodafone, how do you think fraud happens? By people giving out their personal details! If the nice lady who rang me wants to give me a special offer as a valued customer (yeh right - remember Vodafone make millions of pounds a year and pay no tax on it), then write to me with your offer. Or just do it, if you're so desperate to take less money off me!

It had been suggested that I report them to the police and once I have a case number to call Vodafone who would change my number for free. This caller is a company called.......
I can confirm that calls from this number originate from a company called LBM.co.uk who are are direct marketing company employed by Vodafone (and other large companies) to make sales calls on their behalf.

Take a look at their website! The 1st thing that struck me as appropriate when first saw it was the sales pitch they made for their "Intelligent Contact" solution called PLOP: Prepare, Predict, Learn, Optimise. OK, I changed the words around a little to get PLOP, but you catch my drift!

I contacted LBM myself and after I made a strong complaint and threatened to report them to the police siting harassment as my concern, they confirmed removal of my number from their files and I immediately stopped receiving the regular extremely annoying calls from this number.

So, email LBM a strong complaint yourself if you also want to stop them annoying and harassing you without delay!

If this is geniunely Vodafone they will advise you have not passed security and terminate the call, if its a scam they wont know its incorrect and will confirm that the info is correct (which you know it isnt). Come on...
I've just had a call from this number and the lady who was in charge of my contract, I was really annoyed and said 'If you are vodafone, you'll know who it is' and hung up. I fell really guilty as i know its not her fault, and she's just doing her job, but I was just sick and tired of it. They should leave a message, then send a text and even a email. Come on V, get it right!

I have had three of these calls today - I now ignore them as it#s so annoying. Since I upgraded my phone I seem to get lots of these.

Vodafone outsource to companies like LBM for sales. They are genuinely calling from Vodafone and they have to ask you these details (postcode and DOB) to access your account to make sure they are speaking with the correct person. All the calls are recorded for quality so if an advisor does not clear data protection with you on the call they will get in trouble at work. The calls work on an autodialler so you are likely to get multiple calls a day because your number is recycled and takes 4 hours to come back to the next advisor. All you have to do is ask nicely when they ring to be removed off the list. Because it is a auto dialler you may have to wait a couple of seconds before hearing anyone because they are not ready yet.
Its amazing how many sales these places get they are not Scams its Vodafone being a bit invasive of privacy but it gets them extra cash.
Do not worry just ask to be removed off the list. If you shout at them or are rude you will just get your number called again

Well I did wonder...
...I had a feeling it was them my contract expires soon so no doubt its a begging letter (in phone format) to get me to stay...the more they bother me, the more the answer is a possible 'no'!

Called the number back
I called the number back and got a pre-recorded message from Vodafone saying that they had earlier, giving another number to call if you wanted to contact them.

Called the number back as well...
Call them back and a message told me the call would cost me 14p per minute, as I with Vodafone anyway on contract, this seems strange.

Thanks for this site. I have given him all my details but failed to give him my CVV and Expiry date of my card because I started suspecting him.

Well I don't understand why I am involved in this, I use a three phone.

Told me to buy a 3 Contract, I rang three and after explaining to the agent, he put me through to another person and he did a check on my line then said I should complete the verification with him or the caller.

It still sounds suspicious

I have decided not to go ahead and will walk into a three store to report this issue.

He sends loads of e-mail and put calls through in annoying way

Spiv Johnnies keep calling!
After many calls and no one bothering to leave a message, I finally answered to tell them that I had registered with Vodafone to receive no marketing calls. They seem to be a third party call centre working for Vodafone - so much for not sharing your details...................!!

Don't call them back!
I got a call from them but was out and neither of us could make out what the other was saying. When I got back to the office I though I'll try redialling as I was expecting to get a call about some orders... So Vodafone want me to pay 40p/min to talk to their sales team!

recently got a call from this number along with another number within a few hours of each other, the other was a student survey.

I recently did an online survey on one these survey website things which then send your details to third party companies. im assuming its that, im not with vodafone so they have no reason to contact me.

How to deal with them & possibly get your own back
You can phone this organisation on also on 0161 929 5799 which is their general enquiry number, they are an independent marketing company working for Vodafone sales. They then promise to remove your number from their list. Their website is available via "http://www.lbm.co.uk/contactus.aspx" .
If you want to be spiteful everyone could phone them on 0800 479 6444 which is their recruitment number and by bombarding them with calls they will get a taste of their own medicine, and it will cost them for the calls!

Everton seems to be saying its vodaphone but I'm on O2 and have had several calls from this number. Also watch out as my phone bill has been uncharacteristically high. I am supposing that if you answer the call then you are charged. I was charged 41p for a call lasting 0.4 of a second so be careful.
