The above number rang - I didn't answer - green light on our phone started flashing and ring tone changed - then voice said "please hang up and try again"

Was I being 'invited' to return the call?

At my expense?

Persistent and annoying
After a late shift this call woke me up in the morning. They kept on for 5 minutes. I ignored and tried to sleep although this was very invasive and wouldn't easily give up. I am on TPS too....

This number called twice today and, as I did not recognise it, I ignored it - who is it and why do these people insist on not leaving a message if it is important they reach me?!

Definitely Google - not a scam
I was suspicious that this was a scam at first but I phoned the main Dublin office and they have confirmed that this IS in fact a genuine Google number. The reason they may need to ask for access is because they don't get any kind of automatic access to Merchant Centre accounts there - only AdWords accounts.

0808 looks like a Freephone number but may be a shared cost (and we know what that means!) or a "Special Tariff"

I think it is Thomas sanderson wh sell blinds and things. they keep ringing me and ring off when I answer. I wondered as it is 0800 if it was a free phone number for which THEY have to pay, and was tempted to ring them and leave the call on to try to block their line, but not sure this would work.

TPS does not cover them
They are not selling you anything which is why they can ignore TPS.
What they are doing is taking your details to sell to other companies. You and your data is their product. Simply ask to be removed from their database and then refuse to give them your info which they will make money from.
I hate everyone that calls me!
